The main goal of the coming year is to try out 45 different exercises. The secondary goal is to lose weight (45lbs, in fact). From time to time, I will give updates on this other goal.
After two weeks, my weight has stayed exactly the same. This is unsurprising for several reasons. First, it takes some time for the work you put in to take effect. With the exception of some jump-start detox diets, I've rarely seen any results on the scale until after roughly 4-6 weeks. In fact, there have been times where I was exercising quite a bit and ended up frustrated by not seeing any decrease in weight. Eventually, I would either rest for a few days or give up my new found regiment, only to finally see the pounds drop off.
Second, in the first few weeks, I've seen a number of anomalous events (or at least rare occurrences). Though week 1 went smoothly, all of my attempts at exercise in week two were stopped short of where I would like them. On top of that, I've had some minor upperback/shoulder issues that (thankfully) have not had a major impact on the activities I'm performing, but have still made it less comfortable to put in the hard work that helps melt the pounds off (which is rather gross as a metaphor).
Third, in trying to get this site started, it seems that there will be times where I have to choose between writing about/filming exercise and actually doing more of it. I will have to assess this balance as time goes on (informed in no small part on the weight loss status in another couple of weeks).

Over the next year, this blog will follow one guy's goal of trying 45 new exercises or activities in his last year before turning 30. A hopeful side effect of this will be to lose weight (45 lbs in fact) through these exercises.
